The free Lifestyle Management education series will provide White Rock-South Surrey participants with the knowledge and skills to implement lifestyle changes that can have an impact on their health.
The series has 4 topics: (1) Managing Lifestyle Changes, (2) Movement for Health, (3) Nutrition, and (4) Sleep. In all sessions, the participants will implement the knowledge gained by setting goals and determining ways to address barriers that may arise. Resources will also be provided. The 45-minute sessions run twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 4 weeks (total of 8 sessions).
- October 15/17: 12:00-12:45 p.m.- Managing Lifestyle Change: Review the differences between behaviour change and lifestyle change, along with exploring how to create, implement, and achieve small sustainable goals that can impact health.
- October 22/24: 12:00-12:45 p.m.- Movement for Health: Participants will learn the importance of being physically active, how it differs from exercise, and ways to incorporate physical activity into daily life. SMART goals related to physical activity will also be set.
- October 29/31: 12:00-12:45 p.m.- Food and Nutrition: Participants will review the different aspects of healthy eating, the foundations of nutrition, making healthier choices, and understanding nutrition labels. SMART goals related to healthy eating will also be set.
- November 5/7: 12:00-12:45 p.m. – Sleep: Participants learn about the importance of sleep, how sleep affects health, the stages of sleep, and tips for getting a good night’s sleep.
